The Role of Students
The role of high school students/volunteers
Daily involvement of high school students is an important part of our program. Students act as part of the child development team to support program needs and grow in their own knowledge. The center serves as a learning laboratory with opportunities to increase skills in important areas such as parenting, child development, education, health, social-emotional development, and social services.
Volunteers and interns from other educational programs participate in roles similar to our high school students. They also help to mentor other program participants and high school students.
We value the opportunity for high school students to develop relationships with children and families. We hope this may lead to other opportunities outside the program, such as linking families with students who may desire work experience as child care providers.
