Library FAQ

Students: You are responsible for everything you check out.

Library Hours
7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday when school is in session.

What do I need to check out materials?
Student ID number and/or their SHHS ID card.

How many books can I have checked out at one time?
You can have a total of 5 books.

How long can I keep my library book?
Most books are out for three weeks. You may renew the book as long as there are no holds placed by other students.

What are the fees for damaged books and computers?
Any items that are not usable by other students will is charged the full replacement price; liquid damage, torn pages, broken binding,  broken screens and keyboards, damaged chargers etc.

What if a book or computer is lost?
Lost items are charged the full replacement cost. Fines are removed upon return. You are responsible for everything you check out.

How do I request a book that is already checked out?
A staff member can place a “Hold” on a book for you. You will be notified when it becomes available. The book will be reserved for 14 days.

Can I come to the library during class?
The teacher must arrange for students to come to the Library/Media Center. Teachers must fill out a Destination Pass completely.

Is there a printer I can print to?
No, the Library/Media Center has no printers for students at this time. We recommend you email your teacher and they will print with their staff pass.

How do I renew a book?
Bring the book to the front desk and staff can renew it for you. You may renew as many times as needed to complete the book as long as there are no holds placed by other students. We encourage students to renew their items prior to the due date.

 

 

Library Etiquette
In order to promote a quiet and safe environment for our students and staff we ask the following:

  • Keep your conversations to a minimum. This is a quiet study space.
  • Please no cell phones and do not make receive calls until you are outside of the library.
  • Please keep tables clear for other students and staff that come in.
  • It is forbidden to bring in food or drinks as it may damage books and electronics.
  • Students must have completed Destination Pass filled out completely by teacher.
  • Student must be working or you will be sent back to the classroom.
